Trump also reiterated that if he had been the US president at the time, the Russian-Ukrainian war would supposedly never have happened.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In it, the Ukrainian leader proposed a personal meeting in a neutral country (for example, Switzerland or Turkey) to discuss ending the war.
Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s readiness for a complete ceasefire during the negotiations, an exchange of prisoners according to the “all for all” formula, and direct dialogue without awaiting additional international factors.

Later, Putin stated that he saw no point in meeting with the Ukrainian president. According to him, for Ukraine, the point is only in stopping the Russian offensive, while Russia needs “agreements.” He also called the letter “with elements of boorishness” and unproductive for preparing negotiations.
