We have gathered information for you about the one thousand six hundred forty-sixth day of the Great War: what Ukraine and Ukrainians lived through on August 27, 2026.

MOST IMPORTANT

President Zelensky, after another night air attack by Russians, once again called on partners to strengthen air defense, including through the PURL program – Facebook of the Head of State.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Chisinau to celebrate Moldova’s Independence Day. As part of the visit, a bilateral meeting between the Head of State and Moldovan President Maia Sandu will take place. A trilateral meeting with the participation of Romanian President Nicolae Duda is also planned – Serhiy Nikiforov, Spokesperson for the President.

Poland has the production capacity and is ready to begin producing PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems on its territory and is ready to cooperate with Ukraine in this direction – Paweł Zalewski, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland.

Units of the Defense Forces have begun testing new special robotic turrets with Kalashnikov assault rifles in combat conditions – Ministry of Defense.

Drone systems struck the Nebo-U radar station at the Millerovo military airfield in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation – Ukrinform.

The General Staff confirmed the strike in Donetsk on the main and reserve command posts of the Russians.

Drones attacked Ozon logistics facilities in the Russian cities of Orenburg and Ufa – BBC Russian Service.

Smoke is rising over the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim refinery in Ufa (Bashkortostan, RF) after a drone attack – Astra Telegram channel.

Air defense forces neutralized 233 aerial targets: an Onyx anti-ship missile, seven Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, three Banderoli missiles, and 222 drones – Air Force.

Consequences of enemy attacks

– In Kyiv, four people were injured; in the Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi districts, residential buildings, cars, two schools, a kindergarten, and a medical facility were damaged;

– In Odesa and Odesa region, three people were injured; infrastructure, two educational institutions, and a multi-story building were damaged;

– In the Kyiv region, in Boryspil district, two people were injured, and a private house was damaged; in the Boryspil and Fastiv districts, warehouse premises were damaged. Fires were extinguished at nine locations in the Boryspil district;

– In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, an industrial enterprise was attacked, and three people were injured;

– In Kharkiv, one person was killed and five were injured by a drone strike on a shopping center;

– In Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, five people were injured, and educational institutions, shops, cafes, and banks were damaged.

Economy

Russians hit the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant with five missiles at the site of a previous shelling (August 11); the enterprise’s operation has been halted – Musa Magomedov, People’s Deputy.

Due to massive shelling of regions, trains are delayed in a number of Ukrainian regions, with some routes running more than 10 hours late – Ukrzaliznytsia press service.

Due to shelling in the Kyiv region, the following were damaged:

– Food warehouses of a supermarket chain;

– Roshen company warehouse;

– Distribution center of “Dityam Toishcho” (“Toys for Children”);

– Distribution center of the Comfy chain;

– Warehouse of the KOLO chain, which became part of the Varus company.

Energy

New power outages have occurred in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Odesa regions due to Russian strikes – Ukrenergo.

In the Poltava region, Russians attacked industrial enterprises and an energy facility, leaving consumers in seven settlements without power – Vitaliy Djakivnych, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

Russians dropped 4 FAB bombs on the Kherson Thermal Power Plant, destroying all equipment – Naftogaz Group.

Ecology

A new oil spill from the sunken Russian tankers “Volgoneft-212” and “Volgoneft-239” has been recorded in the Kerch Strait, after the Russian government announced the completion of oil pumping from the vessels – “Krymsky Veter” (Crimean Wind) Telegram channel.

NEWS: UKRAINE

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that critical infrastructure came under Russian fire, with serious destruction in some regions – Shmyhal’s Telegram channel.

Following the massive attack by the Russian Federation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga called on partners to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian grain exports and civilian navigation in the Black Sea – Sybiga’s social media X.

The Government:

– Allocated another UAH 1 billion for infrastructure restoration in 16 regions;

– Reallocated UAH 76.9 million for autonomous energy supply of state educational institutions and establishments for the autumn-winter period;

– Dismissed Hennadii Novikov from the post of Chairman of the State Agency of Ukraine “PlayCity”;

– Appointed Nataliia Dehterieva as a member of the Supervisory Board of the state-owned “Sense Bank”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands that Belarus revoke the decision to declare the Instagram account of Ukrainian special envoy Yaroslav Chornohor and a number of EU projects as “extremist materials” – Heorhiy Tykhyi, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

There are already over 2 million veterans in Ukraine, and their number will grow; veteran policy will influence Ukrainian society and the state for at least the next 30 years – Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights.

European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, during a phone call with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, assured continued assistance to the state, including in advancing the EU accession process – Várhelyi’s social media X.

The use of the veto right by individual member states has been an obstacle to effective decision-making at the EU level. Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže explained the Russian attacks on Ukrainian grain infrastructure as Moscow’s desire to starve the world – Braže’s social media X.

During a North Atlantic Council meeting with the participation of US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl, issues of enemy escalation by Russia towards Ukraine and Alliance states were discussed – Paweł Zalewski, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland.
